Therese Tuski Scarpace, LMSW, ACSW

Therese has been a clinical social worker in the Oakland County area for over 30 years. Her career has been dedicated to children, teens and families. She received her bachelor's degree in social work from Michigan State University, and her Master's degree from Wayne State University. She is certified through the National Association of Social Worker's Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) and is licensed in the State of Michigan.

Throughout her career, Therese has worked for non-profit agencies, including the Beaumont Health system in their intensive outpatient program (IOP), partial hospitalization program (PHP) and inpatient program with chronically ill children, teens and their families.

Therese specializes in the treatment of adolescent eating disorders with a family based approach. She has created programming and interventions specifically for adolescents and their families that promotes increased awareness, improved communications and movement toward recovery. Therese utilizes a team approach to the treatment of eating disorders and has an extensive network of physicians, dietitians and other professional collaborators.

She has extensive experience working with children with social and emotional difficulties. She is well versed in trauma and grief issues as it relates to coping with daily life. Therese has conducted numerous workshops on the state and national level and has been a field instructor for social work student from various Universities and Colleges throughout the state of Michigan.

Therese incorporates reality based, age appropriate therapy techniques, philosophies and creativity. She strongly believes the family is a partner in empowering the child or adolescent to develop skills toward positive change in their lives.
