Meet Dr. Whimmy Milstein: Our Four Legged Therapist with a Heart of Gold

Since 2020, Dennis, Moye, Branstetter & Associates has had the joy of working alongside one of the most beloved and fluffiest members of our team: Dr. Whimmy Milstein. A sweet and loving golden retriever, Dr. Whimmy joined us as a small puppy and quickly began his apprenticeship under clinical psychologist Dr. Stephanie Milstein, who also happens to be his mom.

From the very beginning, Dr. Whimmy showed a natural ability to connect with people. He worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, offering virtual support to clients during a time when connection was needed most. His dedication earned him an honorary doctorate and a well deserved treat or two. Though officially honorary, he continues to practice under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Milstein.

As our office gradually returned to in person sessions, so did Dr. Whimmy, who thrives on face to face interactions. While he is still happy to join virtual sessions when requested, he does his best work when he can offer tail wags, snuggles, and a calm presence in the room. In fact, many clients specifically request that Dr. Whimmy be part of their sessions. His friendly and easygoing nature helps put people at ease. He is often found greeting visitors in the hallway and pausing to say hello to coworkers and new friends alike.

Dr. Whimmy is known for his outstanding attendance and remarkable attention span, especially when treats are involved. His specialties include warm hugs, grounding companionship during difficult conversations, and providing quiet support as clients explore their relationship with food, body image, and emotions. A true believer in intuitive eating, Dr. Whimmy maintains a well balanced diet, always dog safe of course, and is more than happy to share a snack with his friends.

When he is not working hard, you can find Dr. Whimmy curled up on the couch in his stylish hoodie, nestled among his stuffed animals in Dr. Milstein's office. He also enjoys his daily hallway adventures, soft blankets, squeaker free toys per mom's request, and quality time with the people he loves. During time off, he takes in the fresh air on long walks, chases the breeze, and naps in cozy piles of fluff until the scent of dinner reminds him it is time to eat.
